Company Name : S.A.M. Bracing
Role : Director / Senior Designer
Dates Employed : Jan 2008 – Feb 2019
Employment Duration : 11 yrs 2 months
- As design director I have managed the design process from concept ideation through to prototype and manufacture for mass production.
- For years doctors and Physios have been treating injuries the same way with minimal improvements. At S.A.M. Bracing (Supported Assisted Movement Bracing ) we have challenged this idea by designing a new range of innovative rehabilitation sport braces for the shoulder, knee, elbow and foot/ankle. Unlike traditional bracing which keep patients in fixed positions, our range of braces offer Doctors, Physios and patients a way of introducing small amounts of movement which can be adjusted and controlled earlier in the rehabilitation process. This helps increase blood flow and collagen development which is critical in patient rehabilitation success. Not only does the product range provided supported movement but we also allow users to adjust different levels resistance with this movement.
- Focusing on key User/Customer experience issues of the Doctor, Physiotherapist and patient throughout the rehabilitation journey.
- Running user interview workshops and usability prototype testing to gather feedback allowing us to refine the brace before exhibiting at the AAOS ( American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons ) in 2011 and 2012. This process ensured the products we developed were inline with forward thinking many surgeons have. This has been very important in the success of the product in helping to bring the products to market.
